Howdy to all, I usually save this little bit of business for a rainy day but seeing as to how rare those are these days, I thought I had better get some news out of the way before I forget most of it. We have a new member to the family at the Stables. Sam Korna of Belchertown MA. has joined us here in Kentucky. He shipped his mares, Indy and Bella, along with Bella's foal Phinnaeus to us for safe keeping and future breeding. They arrived today. Please join me in welcoming Sam and his horses. He will be staying in MA and visiting the horses occasionally. Send him an email and let him know we appreciate him choosing us. We managed to get a little over an inch of rain this past week and it was sorely needed and much appreciated. I was beginning to worry and had started to feed hay to the mares in front of the barn. Lady and April are truly eating machines anyway. I am beginning to think it is a competition with them to see who can eat the most. I am not sure but I think I saw one of them pick their head up off the ground last Tuesday. Not sure but I marked it down in red on the calendar just in case. LeeAnna & Aaron know I am kidding. All of the horses except for Lee Graves' two have had their annual shots. No one caused the least bit of problems. They were also given their quarterly worming at the same time. I took some time off from the breezeway of the barn to do some of the stall walls. We had some show horses in for a overnight visit and I wanted their stalls to look their best. Take a look and let me know what you think. Also, we have been busy with the fence rows and trying to manage the broadleaf weeds that are so prevalent this time of year. In other words, the work never seems to slow down, much less stop. The next big project is the fencing job on the new two acre pasture. The grass is looking good and I hope to have it ready for horses soon. We are building a new turn out stall in that field and keeping the lot behind the arena clear for our horses. I got a load of sand in last week for the round pen but I want to finish a project at the house before I work it in the ground. We are also widening the drive entrance to allow trailers to safely make the turn. And, lastly, Matt has been painting some of the rusty gates and panels. Let him know how good it looks. Whew! Jennifer had an idea (that required no labor by me) and a good idea it was. We are intending to add a page to our web site that introduces all of the boarders and owners to people that are interested in boarding here. It would be a picture, a brief paragraph of introduction and a match up to their equine friends. Let me know what you think and we will proceed. I guess that is about it for now. You guys pray for rain. Hay has already been contracted for the winter but I would sure like to take advantage of the pasture while we can. Come and see us when you can, Richard, Jennifer and Matt
