Double R Stables

News Letter

April 6th, 2008

Hello to all,

Hope this newsletter finds you all happy and healthy. There is so much news, I don't know where to start but will try to muddle through.

Jennifer has a new addition. Her name is April. She is a nine year old registered Quarter horse mare. This is probably the best trained horse we have ever owned. It was a surprise for Jennifer. I wanted her to have one horse like this in her life. We plan on bringing her home sometime this week. We have owned her for a couple of months but have been keeping her and Bob and Dee's.

We will bring her home in our horse trailer. Guess that is the next bit of news. We bought a trailer from Dr. David Bower who used to board a couple of horses with us before he built his house. I borrowed the trailer several years ago to go to Arizona to pick Jennifer up and bring her to Kentucky. So, the trailer has a history with us.

Now that we have a decent trailer maybe you can benefit from it. We plan to take your horses to the Vet. if needed for $60.00. A farm call from the Vet. is presently $100.00 plus treatment. So, that will save you $40.00. Also, we will rent the trailer to you for $60.00 if you want to go trail riding. There is the offer, it is up to you to take advantage of it.

We have been working on the barn once again. The right side of the breezeway is finished and looking good. Matt is on spring break, so maybe we will get the breezeway completed before he goes back to school.

We ordered fertilizer for the fields. It is a must do this year since we drilled seed last fall. The horses will be put in the barn while the fertilizer dissolves. The cost is sky high to the tune of $670.00 because of the increased prices of fertilizer this year. The new pasture is staked off awaiting decent weather to string fence and sow seed. Will be fall before it can be used.

A bit of sad news. Amanda Ryden, one of our long time boarders is planning on moving her horse (Jackie) in June or July. Amanda moved to Tennessee last year when she took a new job as Emergency Room Physician near Franklin TN. after working in Elizabethtown for several years. She needed to be close to her family. We will miss having her as a boarder but she will always be one of our family.

Not to turn it into a business plea but anytime we lose a boarder we need to get a new horse to stay at the Stables. If you can, refer some business. We need to keep eight or nine boarded horses here in order to stay afloat.

We are going to get a new chalk board for the barn to list the menu that we emailed everyone a copy of a few letters ago. That way you can have a list of what services we offer and the cost available to you each time you visit.

Well folks, that is about all the news I can think of from the Stables. Yall come and visit us, spend some time with your horses and enjoy the spring weather.

Happy Trails,

Richard, Jennifer and Matt
